BMS hires Ian Gormley to spearhead its US Wholesale Growth

Independent global broker BMS Group today announces it has signed up another high profile recruit for its growing wholesale team.

Ian Gormley, formerly Head of US Property at Willis-owned wholesaler Glencairn, will join the BMS wholesale team led by Nick Cook upon completion of his six month contractual notice period. His role will be to lead the continued growth of BMS’ US wholesale business.

Nick Cook, Head of Wholesale at BMS, commented:

Two more new hires for BMS Group MGA Operation

Pioneer and JH Intermediaries the MGA arms of the BMS Group, today announces the addition of two new employees:

  • John Andrews, Business Development Director
  • Jade Bolton, Business Development Assistant

BMS launched Lloyd’s Managing General Agent, Pioneer Underwriting in April 2011 to underwrite a diverse portfolio of business with an initial premium capacity of £62.5m. The team is led by Darren Doherty, Managing Director.

John Andrews joins as Business Development Director and will be responsible for developing program related business for Pioneer Underwriting and JH Intermediaries.  John has over 20 years experience within the MGA & delegated authority arena and joins from Glencairn.  John will report to Darren Doherty.

Jade Bolton also joins as Business Development Assistant. Jade brings with her 7 years experience within the insurance industry with particular expertise in underwriting casualty & professional lines MGA and delegated business.

Pioneer Underwriting at BMS Group takes on Marine Underwriter

Pioneer Underwriting, BMS Group’s recently launched Lloyd’s MGA, today announces that Amy Fu joins the team as a Marine Underwriter.

BMS launched Lloyd’s Managing General Agent, Pioneer Underwriting, in April 2011 to underwrite a diverse portfolio of business with an initial premium capacity of £62.5m. The team is led by Darren Doherty, Managing Director.

Amy joins from Swiss Re where she gained extensive knowledge of the Asian insurance market working in its offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore.  Prior to the insurance industry Amy worked as a financial analyst at Reuters in China, she holds a Bachelors Degree in Finance.

Reactions Japan quake pushes ILW pricing up

Prices for industry loss warranties have increased an average of 20%, broker BMS tells Reactions. Price decreases in the industry-loss warranty (ILW) market have been halted by the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

Stefano Nicolini, senior vice-president and ILW specialist at BMS, reports that the broker has been busy so far this year, placing 14 ILW contracts. He says these were mainly focused on US regional perils.
