A new hire for BMS highlights it commitment to achieving its vision

Insider Fac Magazine reviewed BMS’ expansion plans, prompted by the appointment of Steve Galleger as EVP. Formerly of Aon Benfield, Galleger’s responsibilities will include building BMS’ US reinsurance platform and developing customised reinsurance and risk management solutions for property, casualty and specialty insurers. Steve will start at BMS in December and will be based in the BMS US hub office in Minneapolis.

CEO Carl Beardmore is quoted saying: “This marks another important step in the development and extension of our US operations and is further evidence of our ability to attract key producers to join BMS.”

BMS appoints Steve Galleger to help build its US platform

Independent global broker BMS today announced that Steve Galleger has agreed to join its US based operations as Executive Vice President. His responsibilities will include helping BMS to drive the build out of its US reinsurance platform and to develop and deliver customised reinsurance and risk management solutions for Property, Casualty and Speciality insurers. He will be based in the Minneapolis office.

Steve’s extensive experience in designing, placing and executing reinsurance and risk management strategies for some of the most prestigious and successful insurance companies in the US, is exactly the kind of executive talent we are looking to recruit. Steve joins BMS after 21 years at Aon Benfield. He began his career in 1990 at E.W. Blanch Company in Minneapolis, MN. While there he serviced a number of Midwest regional and super regional clients, before transferring to the newly expanded EWB Dallas office where he first led a number of client service teams, before taking over production responsibilities for the Dallas and lower Southwest regional area. After Benfield bought EWB in 2001, Steve returned to the home office in Minneapolis continuing his role as head of the production for the upper Midwest area as well as servicing a number of clients. Steve was awarded Benfield’s 2007 Broker of the Year Award. Steve has extensive experience in structured reinsurance contracts, MGA/fronted programs and catastrophe reinsurance for both hurricane and tornado/hail driven portfolios. He has a BS from St. Cloud State University, graduating in 1990.
